Well to all our journo out there I hope you got a chance to read my previous post, I guess we all had a chance to read what other people have to say on whether we still do need journalism today with these technological transformation.

Our Journo make use of technology transformations

Screenshort of Barry Bateman

From my point of view on what I have heard and read about how technology now influencing our everyday life it seems like everything is now being done online, shopping, announcements, entertainment and communication. By the use of  new technology it can strengthened the profession of journalism and make it easy to communicate, you can check the statistics on social media usage on following links,

It is obvious that journalist need to change as the environment is also changing, from the previous opinions that were posted on the last blog we might also ask ourselves what kind of journalists do we need and why  should journalists make use of technology upgrades like social media? Well from the knowledge that I have on social media and the profession of journalism I think I can share some information.

Here are some tips on how journalism can make use of social media, social media can be used as a source of information, and journalists use it to generate news of interests to their public's because it enables them to find out what their public's are taking about and engage with them.

Secondly social media is best tool for building and sustaining relationships with their targeted audiences, one might ask how will relationships be sustained by use of social media? Well social media offers a platform were information can be exchanged so that can be beneficial to journalism because journalists will be able to hear their public's opinions and generate news that will fit the audience and also by having conversations regularly. Therefore it will be wise for journalists to use it in their advantage be where the audience are so
that people do not replace the journalists position with social media.

The best thing about the use of  social media is that it follow up on news and provide a platform where by audiences can live their own opinions regarding the news, it is of good use for journalists because they will be able to give updates and progress of any news.By opening the following link you will be able to see some of the journalists using social media. http://goo.gl/XyMq00

Do we still need journalists anymore?

Wow! One might think that these question is being biased. When we look back from the previous time journalists used to gather and generate newsworthy stories and news that are of interests to their public and get paid for that, but now things have changed. Technology has changed everything, and people can now get news without Waiting for the media to broadcast first.

Anyone can now be a citizen journalist

You might ask yourself a question  what I mean when I say technology changed everything? well I  am talking about the transformation of technology, has allowed ordinary people to do jobs that journalist have to go through training and  get qualifications.

From my experience when I first heard about the story of school girls that have been kicknaped in Nigeria, I saw it in the news, I did not get to understand what was going on or maybe because of the time that the news was broadcasted or the way it was being broadcasted. Some of the details were left out. Until I saw the pictures and videos on Facebook that’s when I got to understand what was exactly going on, I had a lot of time as I wanted to view the videos and look at the pictures. Since that day I asked myself if ever we still need journalists anymore. And also since it was broadcast in the news and print media, we were not updated on what is going and as a results the story was no longer new to the media and the people.

This days we are living in a world where everything is being influenced by social media, if I may ask, do you pay more attention when you’re listening to news on radio, television or even when you are reading the long report on newspapers the way you do when you are reading it on your social network relaxing? I doubt because I don’t do so also. With social media everyone can now be a citizen journalist because people no longer wait for the news to come to them but they make news for themselves easy and fast on less costs and without any consumption of time I can post, share and tag any news.

Journalism vs. technology transformation

It has been known that journalists “investigate and report events, issues and trends to a broad public”. http://goo.gl/YacX9m. Technology has diluted the profession of journalism where by we end up not knowing exactly what it is that the profession offers that cannot be offered by anyone,  as a results it is affecting it in a bad way , were by we see people with their smartphones end up being citizen journalists . Adding more, with the technology transformation in platforms such as twitter, Facebook and YouTube it has made news to travel fast and easy, it has also made the field of journalism easy too.see more information on the following links. http://goo.gl/RBqbcu     http://goo.gl/lLXSPu   .Any comments are welcome.
